College baseball action in South Carolina brought mixed results this week, with dominant rivalry performances, strong individual efforts, and some teams still searching for consistency.

Clemson Dominates South Carolina in Rivalry Clash

The Clemson Tigers delivered a strong performance against the South Carolina Gamecocks, winning 8-0 in a run-rule game on March 25.

Clemson started aggressively, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding another in the second. Pitcher Sierra Maness kept the Gamecocks under pressure, allowing very little offensive response.

South Carolina’s starter Nealy Lamb struggled early, giving up multiple hits and runs while recording just one out in the opening inning.

The Gamecocks, now 21-13 overall and 1-5 in SEC play, continue to face challenges with pitching depth despite adding new players this season. Meanwhile, Clemson improved to 23-10 and continues to show strong form.

The two teams will meet again on April 14 in Clemson to finish their rivalry series.

Pitching Concerns for Gamecocks

South Carolina entered the season hoping to strengthen its pitching lineup by adding seven new arms. However, the team has not yet found a consistently reliable pitcher.

With only around 20 games left in the season and tough SEC matchups ahead, improving pitching performance will be key for their success.

The Citadel Secures Solid Win

The The Citadel Bulldogs defeated the Presbyterian Blue Hose 9-4 at Riley Park.

Key highlights from the game:

  • Michael Gibson recorded three hits and two RBIs
  • Garrett Fulmer added two RBIs
  • Christian Stratis hit a crucial two-run triple

The Bulldogs turned the game around after trailing early and maintained control with consistent scoring. They now stand at 10-13 overall.

Presbyterian, now 4-22, showed some fight with home runs from Jonathan Williams and Nick Smith but could not keep up.

Georgia Southern Defeats College of Charleston

In another matchup, Georgia Southern Eagles beat the College of Charleston Cougars 5-2.

Georgia Southern scored early and maintained pressure throughout the game. Jack Myers led the effort with three hits and two RBIs.

Charleston tried to fight back in the sixth inning with multiple hits, but they were unable to fully capitalise on scoring opportunities.

The Cougars now hold a 10-14 record but remain competitive in conference play with a 5-4 CAA record.

What’s Next for the Teams

  • South Carolina faces a tough SEC series against Mississippi State
  • Clemson prepares to host Florida State
  • The Citadel will play Western Carolina
  • College of Charleston begins a series against Campbell

These upcoming games will be important as teams look to improve their standings and build momentum.
