A Community fundraiser planned to help SCDNR officer facing cancer

A strong sense of community is coming together in Moncks Corner as local agencies organise a fundraiser to support a respected officer battling cancer. The event aims to help both him and his family during this difficult time.

Community Comes Together for Officer Battling Cancer

First Sgt. Jamie Mills, also known as “Beau Gator,” is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. He serves with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) in Region 4.

To support him, several agencies have joined hands to organise a fundraiser, showing strong unity within the community.

Agencies Supporting the Cause

The fundraiser is being organised with support from multiple agencies, including:

  • Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
  • Berkeley County Fire Department
  • Other local organisations

This collaboration highlights the respect and support Mills has earned throughout his service.

Donations Go Directly to the Family

All funds raised will be handled through the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund. Organisers have confirmed that 100% of the donations will go directly to Jamie Mills and his family.

People who cannot attend the event can still contribute by donating online through the Wildlife Fund. Donors are asked to mention “Jamie Mills” in the note section to ensure the funds are directed correctly.

More Than Just a Fundraiser

This event is not only about raising money but also about showing support and appreciation for someone who has served the community.

It reflects how communities can come together during tough times to stand by their members.
