A 21-year-old man from Texas is accused of murdering his grandmother after an argument over his allowance. He allegedly shot her, dragged her body outside, and covered it with a blanket.

Rontrell Jackson Arrested for Murder

Rontrell Jackson was arrested and charged with one count of murder after 68-year-old victim was found dead outside her apartment. Authorities have not yet released the woman’s name, pending next of kin notification.

Details of the Crime

On Friday afternoon, around 4:40 p.m., Arlington police responded to a call about an unresponsive woman found outside her front door at an apartment complex on Carriage House Circle. A family member had discovered the body, which was covered with a blanket.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and determined that the woman had been shot. She was pronounced dead on the spot.

The Argument Over Allowance

According to police, Jackson and the victim had recently been involved in a heated argument about the allowance Jackson had been receiving. The dispute reportedly escalated and led to the loss of his allowance, which police say triggered Jackson’s violent response.

During questioning, Jackson allegedly confessed to shooting his grandmother inside the apartment, before dragging her body outside and covering it with a blanket. Detectives later recovered a firearm, which they believe was used in the shooting.

Investigation and Arrest

Jackson was taken into custody after police obtained an arrest warrant for the murder. He was booked into the Arlington City Jail and later transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where he is being held on a $750,000 bond. Authorities have stated that the investigation is still ongoing.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s identity after notifying her family and will also determine the official cause and manner of death.

Next Steps

It is unclear when Jackson will make his first court appearance, but authorities emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
