A woman was injured after being hit by a train Wednesday morning in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 8:23 a.m. to the 1800 block of Wylds Road following reports of a pedestrian struck by a train.
Investigators said the woman had reportedly been sitting or lying on the train tracks before the train approached.
Woman Tried to Move Before Impact
Authorities said the woman attempted to move out of the way as the train neared but was still struck.
She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials said CSX personnel also responded to the scene.
More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
