A California man was shot and killed while celebrating his 26th birthday at a pizza restaurant in Wilmington over the weekend, according to police.
Birthday Celebration Turns Deadly
The victim, identified by loved ones as Andres, was at Red West Pizza on May 9 when the shooting happened.
Police said Andres was trying to break up a fight between two women when a man suddenly opened fire.
Another Victim Also Shot
Authorities said a restaurant employee was also shot during the incident.
The suspect fled the scene on foot after the shooting.
Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects so far.
Family Remembers Victim
Loved ones said Andres had moved to the United States from Colombia three years ago to build a better future for his young daughter.
A fundraiser created for his family described him as a loving father whose “presence was unforgettable.”

Police described the shooter as a man in his early to mid-20s.
