A man in a wheelchair and his dog were killed, and a woman was critically injured, when a driver in a 2021 Lexus ES struck them on a raised median and then fled the scene in Orange County, Florida, on the evening of March 19, 2026.
What happened at the scene
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Lee Road and Adanson Street in Orlando. The Lexus was traveling eastbound when it ran off the roadway, hit the curbed median, and struck two adults and a dog who were standing there. The man in the wheelchair and the dog were pronounced dead at the scene; the woman was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable but critical condition.
Vehicle and aftermath
Debris from the wheelchair also struck a 2006 Toyota Tacoma that was stopped in the westbound left‑turn lane; the driver of that truck was not seriously injured. The Lexus continued eastbound after the crash and was later found unoccupied in a nearby parking lot with damage matching the collision.
Investigation status
The Florida Highway Patrol is treating this as an active criminal investigation and is working to identify the driver. Authorities have asked the public to call *FHP (*347) or CrimeLine (1‑800‑423‑TIPS) with any information about the hit‑and‑run.
