Two 16-year-old boys face murder charges in juvenile detention for the December 26, 2025, shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Spivey in his Spring, Texas, home on Edsall Drive. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Spivey let them in—believing them friends needing to charge phones—only for them to shoot him in the back of the head in his room and rob him.

Incident Circumstances

Spivey briefly left home, returned with one or two teens, and no forced entry or struggle was evident. His mother, Vanessa Garcia, told KTRK they exploited his kindness; afterward, the suspects allegedly posted online “songs” mocking him.

Arrests and Family Response

One suspect was arrested Saturday, March 14, 2026, the other Monday, March 16. Garcia demands adult prosecution, insisting they acted with intent, not childish ignorance.
