Seniors in Anderson County can start applying for the South Carolina Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program beginning in June. The program gives eligible seniors $50 in coupons to buy fresh fruits and vegetables from authorized local farmers.
Eligibility Requirements for Seniors
To qualify for the program, seniors must meet the following criteria: they must be 60 years or older, have a low income, live in South Carolina, and provide proof of identity when picking up the benefits.
How and Where to Apply
Applications will be available at several locations in Anderson County. Seniors can apply at the following sites:
- Iva Farmers Market on Wednesday, June 3
- Belton Senior Center, beside the Farmers Market in Belton, on Thursday, June 4
- Anderson Farmers Market on Friday, June 5
Registration begins at 8 a.m. each day, and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis, so seniors are encouraged to arrive early.
