A man has been detained in Barnwell County on 43 offenses, including alleged dog fighting

A Barnwell man was arrested following an extensive narcotics investigation that also uncovered evidence of alleged dog fighting.

The Arrest

On May 14, the Barnwell County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the SLED Fugitive Team and Dog Fighting Unit, took Chemar Black into custody.

Charges

Black faces multiple charges, including:

  • Distribution of marijuana (4 counts) and methamphetamine (1 count)
  • Trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl (3 counts)
  • Possession with intent to distribute near a school (9 counts)
  • Possession of weapons during violent crimes and unlawful possession of machine guns
  • Animal fighting or baiting and ill-treatment of animals (7 counts each)
