Seven children were removed from a Hartsville-area home last month after a welfare check found unsafe living conditions, authorities said.

Investigation and Removal

Darlington County investigators, working with the Department of Social Services, served an inspection warrant at a Swift Creek Road residence. Following the inspection, seven children were placed into emergency protective custody. Authorities said individuals at the home tried to prevent the removal.

Arrests and Charges

  • Jonathan Miner Sr. – charged with hindering officers, resisting arrest, and three counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.
  • James Scavenicky – charged with hindering officers and resisting arrest.
  • Janessa Evans – charged with four counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.

All three were denied bond by Darlington County Magistrate Court.
