A fire in Pickens County caused concern on Monday afternoon, but officials have now lifted evacuation orders as the situation comes under control.
Fire Breaks Out Near Mill Village
According to local authorities, the fire started around 3:30 p.m. near the old mill village along Cateechee Trail.
As the flames spread:
- Nearby wooded areas caught fire
- The fire moved close to residential homes
- Emergency crews quickly responded to contain the situation
Evacuations Issued and Later Lifted
Officials ordered evacuations for residents within a one-mile radius of the affected area to ensure safety.
However, after firefighters gained control:
- The evacuation order was lifted
- Residents were allowed to return to their homes
Fire Contained Quickly
Emergency crews reported that improving wind conditions helped them control the fire before 7 p.m.
Their quick response prevented the fire from spreading further and causing more damage.
