A shooting at a house party in Amarillo, Texas, has left two teenagers dead and 10 others injured, with two suspects still at large.

Shooting at Texas Apartment Complex

The shooting occurred early on Saturday, May 2, at around 2 a.m. local time at an apartment complex on South Coulter Street. The party, attended by juveniles and young adults, originally began at a different location before moving to the apartment complex.

Events Leading to the Shooting

Police stated that several individuals were asked to leave the original party location, and they followed partygoers to the apartment complex. Investigators believe these individuals attempted to enter an apartment and opened fire using a rifle-style weapon.

Harrowing video footage shared publicly by police shows several people running around the property as gunshots rang out. The shooting was violent and chaotic, with multiple rounds fired into the crowd.

Victims and Injuries

The two deceased victims have been identified as 17-year-old Ezekiel Rudy Almazan and an unnamed 16-year-old boy. At least 10 other people sustained injuries, some of which were gunshot wounds.

Evidence Recovered

A Glock 9mm handgun was found on a landing outside an apartment unit, and investigators believe multiple weapons were involved, based on cartridge casings recovered in an alley south of the complex.

Suspects and Investigation

There are two unidentified suspects, whose relationship to the victims is still unknown. Police believe the shooting was a targeted attack, though the motive remains unclear.

Amarillo Police Chief Thomas Hover stated that the suspects are believed to have an affiliation with the targeted location and were known to one of the partygoers.

“This criminal behavior is unacceptable, and the Amarillo Police Department and our regional law enforcement partners are committed to the safety of our community,” Hover said.

Appeal for Information

Authorities are urging anyone with doorbell camera or security system footage of the incident or unusual activity in the area to share it with law enforcement.

The investigation remains ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
