LaKayla E. Hamilton, 26, has been arrested for allegedly abusing a 3-month-old boy at a Panama City daycare, leaving the infant with skull fractures, broken ribs, a broken leg, and extensive bruising.

Incident Details

The alleged abuse occurred at Quality Learning Child Care Center, Inc. after Hamilton received a text message that upset her. Investigators say she repeatedly slammed the baby in his crib, onto a changing table, and struck him in the head with toys.

Confession and Investigation

Hamilton initially gave false explanations for the injuries but later admitted to the abuse, reenacting the actions using a doll. Investigators noted that the boy likely would have died without immediate medical attention. He is now in stable condition.

Arrest and Charges

Hamilton faces two counts of aggravated child abuse. She was taken to Bay County Jail with a $2 million bond and reportedly attempted to bring a marijuana vape into the jail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for June 15.
