An Arizona man has been charged with murder after police say he shot his father during an argument about being forced to leave an apartment.

Son Accused of Fatally Shooting Father

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Joseph Gabriel Peixotto.

Authorities said he allegedly shot and killed his father, 50-year-old Joseph Elmer Peixotto, at an apartment complex in Phoenix.

Argument Happened Before Shooting

According to investigators, the suspect had gone to the apartment to collect personal belongings after being told he was being kicked out.

A roommate told police the father and son began arguing shortly before the shooting.

Witness Heard Gunshots

Court documents say the father allegedly asked, “What, you gonna shoot me?” after his son pulled out a gun.

The roommate then heard two gunshots and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest.

The witness later told police the suspect claimed he feared his father was “going to beat my a—.”

Suspect Arrested

Officers arrived at the scene and arrested Joseph Gabriel Peixotto.

Police said he later requested an attorney during questioning.

He has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond.
