The long-running controversy around Michael Jackson has taken a new turn, as members of the Cascio family have come forward with serious allegations years after publicly defending him. Their recent statements have reopened debates about past claims, legal battles, and the complex relationships surrounding the late pop icon.
The Cascio Siblings Speak Out
Four of the five Cascio siblings — Aldo, Eddie, Dominic, and Marie Nicole — recently shared their experiences in an interview with The New York Times. They alleged that Jackson sexually abused them during their childhood and also “groomed” them to defend him against accusations.
The siblings described themselves as Jackson’s “second family” and claimed they were influenced to publicly support him for many years. According to their statements, they felt pressured to deny any wrongdoing, even after Jackson’s death.
Claims of Grooming and Control
Eddie Cascio stated that they were “brainwashed” and trained to stand by Jackson whenever allegations surfaced. The siblings said Jackson played multiple emotional roles in their lives, acting as a friend, mentor, and support figure.
Their connection with Jackson began through their father, who worked at a hotel where the singer often stayed in the 1980s. Over time, the relationship grew closer, with the children visiting Jackson’s famous ranch.
Influence of the Documentary
A major turning point for some of the siblings came after watching the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland. The film featured allegations from other individuals who claimed they were abused by Jackson as minors.
The siblings said watching the documentary helped them see their own experiences differently. According to reports, it played a role in what they described as “deprogramming” from years of defending Jackson.
Legal Dispute and Settlement
The Cascio siblings filed a lawsuit against Jackson’s estate, accusing him of abuse. In 2020, they reached a settlement reportedly worth around $16 million, which was paid over several years.
However, after payments ended in 2025, disputes began again. The siblings are now seeking additional compensation, bringing the matter back into public attention.
Their legal team has argued that the earlier agreement should not be valid, claiming it was made under pressure.
Estate’s Strong Denial
Representatives of Jackson’s estate, including attorney Marty Singer, have strongly denied all allegations. They described the lawsuit as an attempt to gain more money.
The estate also pointed out that the Cascio family had defended Jackson for over 25 years, including public appearances like on The Oprah Winfrey Show and statements made in books and interviews.
They argue that the new claims contradict earlier statements and are part of a financial dispute rather than new evidence.
Court Proceedings and Ongoing Battle
The legal situation is still unresolved. A judge has indicated that the previous settlement may require the case to go into private arbitration instead of a public trial.
The siblings’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, disagrees and claims the agreement should not be enforced. Meanwhile, the estate maintains that the siblings are trying to break a legally binding deal.
Renewed Attention Amid Film Release
The controversy has gained more attention as a new biopic titled “Michael” has been released in theatres. While the film has received positive reviews, it has also been criticised for not covering the serious allegations linked to Jackson.
This timing has brought the issue back into public discussion, with people debating both the claims and Jackson’s legacy.
