An Ohio man has been arrested after allegedly strangling his adult daughter during an argument about the cleanliness of her bedroom, authorities said.
Argument Over Bedroom Turned Violent
Jeffrey Canzonetta, 56, faces charges including felony strangulation and two counts of domestic violence following the incident at the family’s home in Vienna Township, Ohio.
According to deputies, the argument started when Canzonetta entered his daughter’s room and began making negative comments about how messy it was.
Police said the situation escalated after the daughter repeatedly asked him to leave her room.
Mother Also Allegedly Pushed
Investigators said the victim’s mother woke up after hearing shouting and found the father and daughter arguing in the hallway.
When she tried to step in, Canzonetta allegedly pushed her down.
Daughter Says She Could Not Breathe
Police said the daughter attempted to call 911 after seeing her mother pushed.
Authorities allege Canzonetta then grabbed his daughter by the neck and squeezed, making it difficult for her to breathe.
Suspect Later Arrested
Deputies said Canzonetta had left the home before officers arrived but was later found and arrested at his workplace.
He was booked into the Trumbull County jail before posting bond and being released.
Canzonetta is expected back in court on May 14.
