A Washington state corrections officer was sentenced to minimal jail time after allegedly backing over his ex-girlfriend’s head, dragging her across pavement during a drunken altercation.
The Incident
On New Year’s Eve 2025, 23-year-old Cameron Boucher allegedly reversed his Toyota Tacoma over his ex-girlfriend after she fell, dragging her face across the pavement. A friend reportedly shouted at him to stop, banging on the truck window, but Boucher continued. Witnesses said Boucher and the victim had been drinking prior to the incident.
Victim Injuries
The victim sustained severe injuries, including:
- A torn left ear
- Multiple bruises
- A deep laceration requiring nine staples
- Facial fractures causing her to miss work for over a month
Legal Outcome
Boucher, a probationary Pierce County corrections deputy at the time, pleaded guilty on May 15 to:
- Vehicular assault DUI
- Driving recklessly
- Driving with disregard for the safety of others
He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and an additional three weekends behind bars. Prosecutors recommended no further jail time, noting that the victim may have been a willing participant in the incident. Pierce County removed Boucher from his position following the arrest.
Victim Statement
The victim told authorities:
“He wasn’t just some guy out partying. He was a law enforcement officer in training. He knew the law. He knew what DUI meant. And he broke that law anyway. He chose to gamble with someone else’s life. My life.”
