A Texas man has been charged with murder after police said he admitted putting the mother of his child in a chokehold before she was found unresponsive inside an apartment.
Suspect Arrested in San Antonio
Authorities identified the suspect as Marc Balditt, 24.
According to jail records, Balditt is being held at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on a murder charge.
911 Call Led Police to Apartment
Officers with the San Antonio Police Department responded Wednesday night to an apartment at The Park at Sutton Oaks on Locke Street.
Police said Balditt called 911 and reported that a woman was not responding after he allegedly placed her in a headlock.
Victim Found With Injuries
Investigators said officers entered the apartment and found the woman with redness around her neck and apparent vomit on her face.
Emergency responders attempted aid, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly released the victim’s identity.
Argument Allegedly Turned Violent
According to police, Balditt told investigators the two were discussing their child when an argument became physical.
Authorities allege Balditt admitted placing the woman in a chokehold for one to two minutes in an attempt to “put her to sleep.”
Child Placed in Protective Custody
After the incident, the couple’s child was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, according to reports.
Balditt is being held on a $250,000 bond and is expected back in court on Aug. 12.
