A shocking incident in Missouri has led to the arrest of a delivery driver after he allegedly used his car to hit a customer during a dispute over a tip. The case has raised serious concerns about road rage and personal safety, especially in everyday situations like food delivery.
Delivery dispute turns violent
The incident happened in Fulton on April 29 at around 7:21 p.m. Officers from the Fulton Police Department responded to a call about an accident involving injuries at a private residence.
According to reports, the situation started as a verbal argument between a delivery driver and a customer after the driver allegedly did not receive a tip.
Driver accused of hitting victim with car
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Zachary Nicholus Walton, was working as a delivery driver for Domino’s at the time.
Witnesses told police that Walton became angry during the argument and intentionally drove his vehicle toward the victim. The victim said he had to jump onto the hood of the car to avoid more serious injury.
Victim suffers minor injuries
Authorities reported that the victim had visible injuries, including damage to his hand and possible scrapes on his shin. While the injuries were not life-threatening, the situation could have been far more serious.
The victim explained that the impact caused pain and left him shaken after the incident.
Video footage supports claims
Police reviewed video footage from the scene, which reportedly shows Walton starting the confrontation by shouting abusive language at the victim and a witness.
In the footage, Walton is allegedly heard using offensive language and challenging the individuals before getting into his vehicle. Investigators say the video shows him reversing and then suddenly accelerating forward, striking the victim.
Suspect fled the scene
After the collision, Walton reportedly drove away from the scene at a high speed without contacting authorities.
Leaving the scene of an accident, especially one involving injuries, is considered a serious offence.
Arrest and charges filed
Police later located Walton at a Domino’s location, where he was taken into custody. According to officers, he admitted to driving toward the victim, claiming he only intended to scare him.
Walton now faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Armed Criminal Action
- Assault (First-Degree or Attempt)
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident involving injury
He is currently being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail.
Court proceedings underway
Walton appeared in court via video on May 1 without a lawyer. His next hearing is scheduled for May 6, where further legal proceedings will take place.
Authorities also noted that Walton has a prior criminal history, including convictions related to domestic assault and false imprisonment.
Safety concerns raised
Officials have stated that Walton’s actions show a serious disregard for public safety. Using a vehicle as a weapon, even during an argument, can have deadly consequences.
This case highlights how quickly everyday disagreements can turn dangerous if emotions are not controlled.
