A Memphis woman has been arrested after allegedly dragging her child’s father and his mother down a street with her vehicle, police say.

Incident Details

The attack occurred on May 15 near Park Avenue and South Greer Street. Jashunte Lewis, 21, reportedly argued with her child’s father in the driveway of a home. During the altercation, she allegedly shifted her 2020 Chevrolet Malibu into reverse and struck both the man and his mother, dragging them about 20 feet down the street.

Victims’ Injuries

The man suffered injuries to his left ankle, left wrist, right forearm, and hand. His mother sustained injuries to her face, shoulder, and left knee. Both were transported to a hospital by the Memphis Fire Department.

Vehicle Damage and Investigation

The car’s driver-side door was damaged in the incident and remained open while Lewis was driving, which helped investigators locate her. The entire episode was reportedly captured on video.

Charges and Court

Lewis faces two counts each of second-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault, plus one count of domestic assault resulting in bodily harm. She was detained at the Shelby County Jail with her bond initially set at $250,000 and later reduced to $15,000, which was posted. She is scheduled to appear in court again on June 1.
