A Minnesota man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison after stabbing both of his parents during a violent attack at their home.
Man Sentenced for Stabbing Parents
Travis Lester, 40, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder over the September 2025 attack in Champlin, Minnesota.
He was sentenced on May 8 to 11 years in prison and received credit for 245 days already served.
Parents Seriously Injured in Attack
Police responded to the home after a 911 caller could be heard struggling with the phone before someone yelled “No.”
A neighbour later called police after finding Lester’s mother covered in blood.
Officers found Lester’s father outside the home with multiple stab wounds. He told police his son had stabbed both him and his wife during what he described as a “drug-induced rage.”
Lester’s mother was later found at a neighbour’s house with stab wounds to her neck, chest, abdomen, and arms.
Both victims survived despite suffering critical injuries.
Knife and Suspected Drugs Found
Police later stopped Lester while he was driving and found a kitchen knife in the vehicle that matched a knife set from the victims’ home.
Investigators also recovered a jar containing suspected methamphetamine.
Lester Confessed to Attack
According to police, Lester admitted stabbing his parents and said he had been thinking about doing it for “a day or two” before carrying out the attack.
