An Indiana man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after authorities say he killed his girlfriend and shot two men who tried to intervene.

Shooting Incident

On May 10, 2026, in Muncie, Indiana, 21-year-old Rylynn Davis allegedly fatally shot his girlfriend, 23-year-old Cheyenne Raines, after refusing to let her leave their home. Police say Davis followed Raines outside, grabbed her, and punched her in the head before taking a gun from her and dragging her back toward the house.

Alleged Attack on Good Samaritans

Two men in a truck saw Davis dragging Raines and stopped to help. Police allege Davis fired at them, hitting one in the head and the other in the abdomen. One victim was in critical condition, while the other was also hospitalized.

Charges and Legal Status

Indiana court records show Davis is charged with:

  • Murder
  • Attempted murder
  • Two counts of aggravated battery
  • Kidnapping
  • Five additional charges

He has not yet entered a plea. Davis reportedly told police he was “protecting himself.”

Eyewitness Account

Michael Hennessey, one of the men who witnessed the attack, told FOX 59, “At first, I thought it was just two kids messing around. Then, I looked closer and realized it was a guy dragging a girl down the road by her ankles.”

Community Response

A GoFundMe has been created to support Raines’ three children. The organizer described her as a “beautiful soul… taken way far too soon.”
