A California woman has been arrested and accused of animal cruelty after allegedly falsely claiming she was licensed to perform veterinary procedures and sharing videos of herself performing them on social media.

Arrest and Investigation

The Visalia Police Department announced on Wednesday, April 29, 2025, that Amanahy Becerra, 24, of Visalia, was arrested following an animal cruelty investigation. Detectives discovered that Becerra was performing unlicensed medical procedures on animals, including C-sections, spaying, neutering, and ear-clippings, all of which are illegal without the proper credentials.

Authorities determined that Becerra had been administering these procedures without using proper anesthesia, causing unnecessary pain to the animals. As a result, some animals suffered severe complications and required emergency veterinary care, and unfortunately, one dog did not survive.

Social Media and Misrepresentation

Investigators found that Becerra had been recording some of her procedures and sharing them on social media. According to police spokesperson Liz Jones, Becerra also allegedly administered vaccines, though the source of the medications has not yet been identified. She reportedly offered these services at significantly discounted rates and misled pet owners by claiming she was trained to conduct the procedures.

“She was claiming to be licensed but she was not certified. She was not licensed at all,” Jones said, adding, “The situation is very heartbreaking. I mean, dogs and pets are our families. They expect us to take care of them.”

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Becerra was taken into custody after a felony arrest warrant for animal cruelty was issued. Detectives also executed a search warrant at her residence. She was booked into the Tulare County Adult Pre-Trial Detention Facility.

Investigators are continuing to review Becerra’s social media videos for further evidence and are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward. “It’ll help us tremendously. I mean, it’s physical evidence, it’s video evidence, it’s there on what she was performing illegally,” said Jones.

A Warning for Pet Owners

This disturbing case highlights the importance of ensuring that only qualified professionals perform medical procedures on animals. Authorities continue to warn the public about the dangers of unlicensed veterinary services and urge pet owners to always seek care from certified and licensed professionals.
