A shocking incident off the coast of Hawaii has left a boat captain seriously injured after a tourist allegedly attacked him during a snorkelling trip. What was meant to be a relaxing outing quickly turned into a violent situation at sea.
What Happened During the Snorkel Tour
The incident took place near Kailua-Kona, a coastal town in Hawaii. A group of people had boarded a fishing vessel for a three-hour snorkelling tour.
Among them was Avery Nissen, a 21-year-old man visiting from Kansas.
According to police, at some point during the trip, Nissen suddenly attacked the boat captain with a knife.
Details of the Attack
Authorities reported that the suspect used a fillet knife to carry out the attack.
The 62-year-old captain suffered:
- A stab wound to the lower abdomen
- Multiple cuts to the head
- Injuries to his hands
The situation became extremely dangerous, especially because it happened while the boat was still out at sea.
