A 17-year-old was arrested in North Charleston after police say he was found carrying a handgun at a McDonald’s.
The Incident
Officers responded around 5:30 p.m. Monday to the McDonald’s on West Montague Avenue after a complainant reported seeing the teen with a firearm in surveillance footage from the previous day. The teenager returned to the restaurant, prompting police to respond.
Arrest and Charges
The teen admitted to having a handgun tucked into his waistband. Police recovered the firearm, which was not reported stolen, and found no additional weapons or contraband. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a person under 18 and released to a guardian with a promise to appear in court.
