A South Carolina woman has avoided jail time after pleading guilty to breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s home in Hilton Head.
Break-In at Ex-Boyfriend’s House
According to court documents, 30-year-old Krystal Heyward broke into the home in September 2024 by removing an air conditioning unit from a window.
When deputies arrived, authorities said Heyward admitted she was there to “blow up the house.”
Police Found Suspicious Items
Investigators said Heyward was carrying bleach, lighters, a knife, and other items that officers initially believed could be used to make an explosive device. However, authorities later determined the items could not actually cause an explosion.
Police said Heyward and her ex-boyfriend had recently ended their relationship before the incident.
Plea Deal and Sentence
Heyward originally faced more serious charges but later pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary. A charge related to possessing a destructive device was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
She was sentenced to 18 months of probation, ordered to attend mental health and substance abuse counseling, and given a permanent restraining order involving her ex-boyfriend.
