A shocking case from Louisiana has led to serious charges against a woman accused of harming her young child. Authorities say what first appeared to be an accident turned out to be a deliberate act after further investigation.
Mother Accused in Child Abuse Case
Sharonica Davis, 37, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with an incident involving her 4-year-old daughter. The case is being handled by the Bossier City Police Department.
At the time the new charge was issued, Davis was already in custody on separate charges related to the same incident.
Child Found With Serious Injuries
The young girl was taken to Ochsner Medical Center in Shreveport on April 8. Doctors found that she had suffered broken wrists and forearms.
Initially, it was believed that the child had accidentally fallen from a second-story window at her home in Bossier City.
Investigation Reveals New Details
After further investigation, police determined that the fall was not accidental. Authorities now allege that Davis pushed and kicked her daughter out of the window.
These findings led to the more serious charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Custody and Legal Status
Davis was booked into the Caddo Correctional Facility and remains in custody. She is expected to be transferred to Bossier City as the case moves forward.
She had already been facing charges such as cruelty to a juvenile before the attempted murder charge was added.
Child’s Condition and Care
The child received medical treatment and has since been released from the hospital. She is now under the care of child welfare authorities to ensure her safety.
