A domestic dispute in Kentucky has turned deadly, leaving a man dead and his wife facing a murder charge. Authorities say the incident began as an argument but quickly escalated into violence.
Woman Charged in Husband’s Death
Heather Edens, 52, has been charged with murder following the death of her husband, James Edens, 60. She is currently being held at the Adair County Regional Jail with a bond set at $1 million.
Argument Turns Violent
The incident happened at the couple’s home on Red Banks Road in Cumberland County. According to the Kentucky State Police, the couple was arguing on Tuesday evening.
During the argument, Heather Edens allegedly told her husband to leave the house. Authorities say she then pulled out a gun and fired at him.
Victim Found in Vehicle
Shortly after the shooting, authorities received reports of both a shooting and a single-vehicle crash. When officers arrived, they found James Edens inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Reports indicate that he was bleeding heavily inside the vehicle after being shot.
Death at Hospital
James Edens was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he later died from his injuries.
Suspect’s Statement to Police
Investigators say Heather Edens admitted to shooting her husband during the argument. She reportedly told authorities that the bullet may have deflected after hitting a hard surface.
