A deeply disturbing case from Arizona has shocked many after a woman was allegedly killed inside her home in front of her young children. The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and the impact it has on families, especially children.
What Happened Inside the Home
The incident took place in Tucson, where police responded to a home on North Dodge Boulevard just before 6 p.m. after receiving emergency calls.
Neighbours reported hearing loud screaming and children crying from inside the apartment. Concerned by the situation, they contacted the property manager, who went to check and made a shocking discovery.
Inside the home, the victim, 28-year-old Katlynne Roy, was found lying on the floor, while the suspect was standing nearby. The couple’s children were found huddled together in a bathroom, visibly frightened.
Condition of the Victim
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Roy unresponsive with clear signs of strangulation. Despite efforts, she was declared dead at the scene.
The nature of the injuries immediately raised suspicion, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
Arrest and Alleged Confession
The accused, Martine Mayorquin, 32, was taken into custody shortly after police arrived.
According to investigators, he allegedly admitted to strangling Roy in front of their three children, aged 7, 5, and 3.
Police say he described using a chokehold for several minutes, stopping briefly, and then repeating the act. Officers also noted that he had scratches on his body, which he claimed were caused by the victim trying to defend herself.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
Mayorquin is now facing multiple serious charges, including:
- First-degree murder
- Three counts of child abuse
The child abuse charges are related to the fact that the incident happened in front of the children, causing severe emotional trauma.
Court Proceedings and Current Status
During his first court appearance, the defence requested a lower bond, stating that the accused had no previous criminal history.
However, the judge approved a much higher bond:
- $1 million bond set by the court
Mayorquin is currently being held in the Pima County Jail. His next court date is scheduled for April 24.

Key concerns include:
