The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that an arrest has been made in a nearly 25-year-old homicide investigation. Sheriff Chad McBride said 55-year-old Andretti Mondez Goss has been arrested in connection to the 2001 death of 29-year-old Jennifer Lawson. Officials described Lawson as an innocent bystander who was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
2001 Party Shooting Turned Deadly
Authorities said the incident happened on June 24, 2001, during a gathering along Camelot Forest Drive in Belton. What began as a small get-together grew into a larger party when three unfamiliar men arrived in a dark-colored sedan and argued with someone there. After being asked to leave, the men stopped their car in the driveway and fired at least one shot from inside the vehicle. The bullet traveled through a trailer wall, struck a man in the shoulder, and fatally hit Lawson in the head.
Case Reopened in 2025, More Arrests Possible
Deputies reopened the cold case during the summer of 2025, leading to Goss’ arrest. He now faces charges including murder, assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling. Officials say the investigation remains active and additional arrests could be made.
