For the coming week: Cold returns, but will be short-lived.

Winter is making a brief return to the Lowcountry to start the final week of February, but a warming trend is expected to take hold by midweek — along with a chance for showers as we head toward the weekend.

Monday: Breezy and Cold with Wind Chill Concerns

Monday will be noticeably colder compared to recent days. Morning temperatures will start around 30°, but gusty winds of 25+ mph will make it feel much colder.

Wind chills could dip into the upper teens at times, especially inland, prompting a Cold Weather Advisory through 9 a.m.

Although winds will gradually ease later in the day, it will remain breezy as cold air continues filtering into the area. Despite mostly sunny skies, afternoon highs may struggle to reach 50°. Bundle up if you’re heading outdoors.

Tuesday: Colder Morning, Gradual Warm-Up

Tuesday morning will start even colder, with lows falling into the mid-20s as calmer winds and clear skies allow for efficient radiational cooling.

However, temperatures will begin moderating during the afternoon, with highs reaching the low-to-mid 50s. While still cool, it marks the beginning of a warming trend that will continue through midweek.

Midweek: Return to the 70s

By Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures are expected to climb steadily, with highs approaching — and possibly reaching — the 70-degree mark by Thursday.

This rebound will bring warmer-than-normal conditions as we transition into March and meteorological spring.

Friday Front Brings Shower Chances

The next cold front is forecast to move through on Friday, bringing the best chance for showers this week. A band of rain is expected to develop ahead of the front.

There are early indications that a high-pressure wedge could influence temperatures into the weekend, and a coastal trough may keep rain chances slightly elevated. However, it’s too early to determine specific impacts.

For now, no need to cancel weekend plans — but stay tuned as the forecast continues to evolve.
