It will be a frigid and breezy start to the work week in Charlotte. Monday is expected to be mostly sunny but cold, with gusty winds topping 30 mph at times and afternoon highs only reaching the lower 40s. The strong winds will make it feel even colder during the morning commute.
In the North Carolina mountains, scattered snow showers will continue with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph at times. Temperatures there will remain in the 20s, with wind chills dropping below zero in higher elevations.
Gradual Warmup by Midweek
By Tuesday, the powerful low-pressure system that brought blizzard conditions to parts of the East Coast will move farther north, allowing winds to ease and temperatures to rebound slightly. Skies will range from mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with highs climbing into the upper 40s and lower 50s.
The warming trend continues Wednesday, with a mix of sun and clouds and highs reaching the 60s.
Late-Week Rain Chance
Another cold front is expected to approach Thursday, bringing increasing rain chances Thursday evening into early Friday morning. Despite the rain potential, highs Thursday and Friday should reach the low to mid-60s.
For now, next weekend looks mainly dry with temperatures continuing to climb into the upper 60s.
