Charleston County Public Works is hosting a quarterly public meeting to update residents on the U.S. 17 and Main Road improvement project.
Project Goals
The initiative aims to ease congestion at the U.S. 17/Main Road intersection, widen roadways from Bees Ferry Road to River Road and Chisolm Road, enhance stormwater drainage, and add safer bike/pedestrian paths across the Stono River.
Meeting Details
Scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Johns High School (1518 Main Road, Johns Island), attendees can engage directly with the project team on upcoming construction phases. Construction on a new interchange began in April 2025, with bridge work slated for spring 2026.
