Ahmad Z’yiem Guilford, a 21-year-old from Georgetown, South Carolina, faces federal charges of making interstate threats and false statements to a federal agent after allegedly targeting airports and flight schools in Charleston, Georgetown, and Florence.

Nature of Threats

Starting around November 2025, Guilford reportedly used spoofed phone numbers from websites to make graphic calls, including a November 14 threat to rape a Charleston flight school employee and “shoot up” Charleston and Georgetown airports, plus a December 18 call threatening to “shoot up” a Florence airport business while taunting authorities about evading detection. He vowed to continue flooding them with threats.

Investigation and Arrest

The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force traced the calls to Guilford, who admitted frustration over airplane noise above his home and retaliating by revving his engine at Georgetown airport, though he denied the calls initially; investigators matched his voice to recordings. He appeared in federal court in Florence on January 20, 2026, remains detained, and faces a detention hearing on January 23 at 10:30 a.m., with up to five years per charge if convicted.
