New charges have been brought against men accused of a double-fatal hit-and-run on Morrison Drive.

Seth Carlson and Max Gentilin, accused in the April 28, 2024, hit-and-run deaths of Lizzy Zito and Arianna Gamber on Morrison Drive in Charleston, S.C., now face new felony DUI resulting in death charges each, per Charleston County Court records. Gentilin also received two counts of reckless homicide, previously only charged against Carlson. Both men were originally charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death, but no breathalyzer tests occurred due to delayed arrests.

Incident Timeline

Surveillance captured Carlson’s truck striking the women at 1:12 a.m. while they walked in the bike lane, after which he crashed elsewhere and fled. About 30 minutes later, Gentilin’s vehicle veered off and hit the victims again before he abandoned the car nearby. The bodies were found around 8:32 a.m. after a 911 call.

Prior Allegations

Court documents and an amended civil suit claim both men binge drank on April 27 at local bars like Commonhouse Ale Works and Ink before driving. Carlson, a musician, allegedly had a “free bar tab” during a gig, while Gentilin drank post-shift. Families sued the men and bars for overserving.

Both bonded out after initial arrests in May 2024, with no prior criminal records noted. A judge denied motions to dismiss earlier charges. The new indictments surfaced around January 7-8, 2026.
