North Charleston Police Department officers first responded on December 23 to reports of thefts involving items like remote-controlled cars, dolls, protein powder, necklaces, and hair products. On December 29, they found additional opened packages outside the building, leading to Sturm-Gadsden’s arrest on December 30.​
Evidence and Outcome
Investigators discovered empty boxes and shipping materials with residents’ names in the suspect’s apartment, linking him to prior thefts. Many stolen items were recovered and returned to owners, and Sturm-Gadsden was booked into Dorchester County Detention Center.​
