Firefighters from Lancaster, Camden, and Kershaw counties battled a big fire at an ancient mill complex that began just before midnight on Saturday.
The incident triggered a reaction from several local fire agencies. Lancaster County Fire Units aided the Camden Fire Department and Kershaw County Fire Service in fighting the fire. The Elgin Fire Department was heavily involved, with a ladder truck on the scene to assist with firefighting efforts.
The Kershaw Fire Department was one of the first to respond to the original mutual aid call. They repaired their engine and returned it with fresh crew to help cover calls in Camden. This allowed the Camden Fire Department to focus on fighting the fire.
