North Charleston, South Carolina. The proprietor of a North Charleston daycare has been arrested on charges of failing to disclose an alleged child abuse incident at the facility.
It was the second arrest in connection with an incident reported by investigators to have occurred in July at Sweetgrass Christian Academy on Remount Road.
A 75-year-old daycare worker was accused of tugging, violently shaking, and beating an infant, as well as throwing the child into a crib. The employee was detained and charged with criminal conduct toward a child.
The center’s owner, 45-year-old Robin Bryant, was informed of the alleged event but failed to alert authorities as required by law, according to the North Charleston Police Department.
Bryant was detained on Friday morning and released from Al Cannon Detention Center that afternoon on a $5,000 bail, according to jail records.
She was accused with failing to report child abuse or neglect.
