North Charleston, South Carolina. The North Charleston Police Department said that a convicted criminal was apprehended Sunday during an incident on Rivers Avenue.

Gustavio Garard Wright Hills Jr., 26, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a violent offense.

According to the police report, authorities saw two vehicles without headlights on Rivers Avenue.

One vehicle pulled into a neighboring parking lot, and cops discovered that Hills removed a handgun from the driver’s side door and threw it out the passenger side window.

Hills was detained, and the loaded handgun was retrieved from the parking lot.

Hills, who is forbidden from carrying a firearm owing to a previous violent felony conviction, was transferred to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
