NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A 28-year-old suspect accused of robbing a pawn shop in North Charleston was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a swift response by law enforcement across city lines.
The North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) says officers were dispatched to Mega Pawn on Rivers Avenue around 2 p.m. following reports of an armed robbery.
Suspect Tried on Gold Chain, Then Pulled a Gun
According to store employees, the male suspect entered the shop, tried on a gold chain, and attempted to leave without paying. When an employee confronted him, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and fled the scene.
Surveillance footage helped investigators identify the suspect’s vehicle, leading to a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) alert being issued to nearby law enforcement agencies.
Mount Pleasant Police Make the Arrest
Not long after, officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, police reportedly recovered the stolen gold chain and took the suspect, Unique Glover, into custody.
Glover has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
“NCPD extends its gratitude to the Mount Pleasant Police Department for their rapid response and assistance in bringing this case to a successful conclusion,” the agency said in a statement.
