A 27-year-old Summerville man, Tiquan De’Vonte Harris, is in custody following a two-hour standoff with law enforcement in North Charleston. Harris, who was wanted by the Charleston Police Department on strong-arm robbery charges, surrendered peacefully around 12:50 p.m. after a response from the North Charleston SWAT team.
Robbery Charge and Alleged Assault
The charges against Harris stem from an incident in which he is accused of repeatedly punching an acquaintance and stealing their cell phone at a Bantry Circle home in West Ashley. Additional charges may be filed, according to Charleston Police Sgt. Chris Stinson.
SWAT Response and Arrest
The standoff began around 10:46 a.m. when U.S. Marshals attempted to serve a warrant at a home in the Westcott Chase community, but Harris refused to leave. He was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
