CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Wappoo Cut Bridge, which connects West Ashley to James Island, is closed for an indefinite period due to a mechanical issue, according to the Charleston Police Department (CPD).
Ongoing Repairs and Detours
Crews are on their way to diagnose and repair the issue, but it is currently unclear when the bridge will reopen. CPD is advising drivers to seek alternate routes in the meantime. One possible detour includes using the James Island Connector through downtown Charleston.
