Trucks slam into Mount Pleasant residence; officials on scene

A truck crashed into a house in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, causing significant property damage Wednesday evening.

Crash Details

The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. near Melvin Bennett Road. Police said the driver lost control of the truck on Watermark Drive, hit a curb, went through a fence, and flew over a backyard pool before striking the exterior of the house.

Vehicle and Property Damage

The truck sustained major front-end damage. The house also suffered significant exterior damage, but no other vehicles or pedestrians were struck. A specialized tow truck will be used to remove the vehicle from the property, carefully maneuvering it over the pool.

Investigation

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, including whether brake failure, a stuck accelerator, or driver impairment played a role. No charges have been filed yet, though a citation was issued, and details are being confirmed by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
