Prisma Health hosted its 20th annual Dragon Boat Upstate Festival on Saturday, raising an impressive $500,000 to support the ongoing fight against cancer. The event, held at Lake Hartwell, brought together 24 teams who competed in dragon boat races to raise funds for cancer patients and research.

A Milestone Celebration

The 20th-anniversary festival saw approximately 800 attendees, making it a memorable and successful event. The $500,000 raised this year marks the second-highest amount in the festival’s history. Since its inception, the Dragon Boat Upstate Festival has raised a total of $5.6 million for cancer research and patient support.

Supporting Cancer Patients and Research

The funds raised at the event directly benefit the Prisma Health Cancer Institute’s Center for Integrative Oncology and Survivorship program. This vital program helps cancer patients reconnect with therapies, regain confidence, and reintegrate into the community after undergoing treatment. The festival also supports the Prevent Cancer Greenville study and contributes to ongoing research at Prisma’s Institute for Translational Oncology Research.

Prisma Health’s Dragon Boat Upstate Festival continues to be a crucial fundraiser in the fight against cancer, supporting both local research and cancer patients in the Upstate.
