LAKE VIEW, S.C. — Lake View Police have arrested a man following a violent altercation that resulted in shots being fired at a family member’s home.
According to Lake View Police Chief James “J.J.” Smith, officers responded on Saturday to a report of a fight and shots fired in the 600 block of Waverly Street. During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect discharged a firearm at a family member, striking the residence, before fleeing the scene.
Suspect Apprehended
Authorities later identified the suspect as Wayne Kyle Reaves, 36. He was apprehended at a hospital in North Carolina with the assistance of Lumberton Police.
Reaves faces multiple charges, including:
- Attempted murder
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime
- Discharge of a firearm into a dwelling
- Discharging a firearm within city limits
- Assault and battery in the third degree
Chief Smith credited the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and Lumberton Police for their swift response and cooperation in apprehending Reaves.
Law Enforcement Response
Chief Smith emphasized the town’s zero-tolerance stance on violent crimes. “The Town of Lake View maintains a zero-tolerance policy for crimes committed against individuals, and those who perpetrate such heinous crimes will be held accountable for their actions,” he stated.
No injuries were reported at the scene. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
