An arrest was made in the early morning Burton shooting, according to the BCSO

BURTON, S.C. — Authorities have taken a man into custody following an early morning shooting at Magnolia Park Apartments on Friday.

Suspect and Charges

Jason Aiken, 37, was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and faces multiple charges, including:

  • Domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature
  • Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent offense

Incident Details

Police said the shooting occurred just before 6 a.m. during a domestic dispute involving a 28-year-old woman. Both parties left the scene in a vehicle before deputies arrived.

Officers later located the car parked at a nearby business and learned the suspect had fled on foot.

Law Enforcement Response

Deputies set up a perimeter and found Aiken hiding on a nearby property. He was unarmed at the time of arrest.

K-9 units assisted in locating a firearm believed to have been used in the incident. The female victim received care from deputies on site and was transported by Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services.
