- A backseat passenger died at the scene
- The driver and front-seat passenger were seriously injured

- The driver of the car was first taken by ambulance to Atrium Health in Shelby
- Later, the driver was flown to Charlotte for further treatment
- The front-seat passenger was also airlifted to Charlotte by helicopter
