The Aiken County Solicitor’s Office confirmed that human remains discovered in Barnwell County are believed to be those of Krystal Anderson.
Mother of Four Disappeared in 2022
Anderson, a mother of four from Wagener, was reported missing in August 2022 and has long been presumed dead by investigators.
Authorities previously said she was last known to be with her partner, Tony Lee Berry, around the time she disappeared.
Suspect Arrested in 2025
Investigators said Berry was captured at a hotel in Lexington County in October 2025 and charged with kidnapping in connection with Anderson’s disappearance.
Officials also noted that Berry’s vehicle was later found burned in Newberry County.
Son Also Charged
Authorities arrested Berry’s son, Darius Berry, who was charged with accessory after the fact in Anderson’s disappearance and suspected murder.
Autopsy and Identification Pending
Officials said the remains recovered in Barnwell County have been sent for an autopsy and formal identification.
The investigation remains ongoing.
