The Aiken County Solicitor’s Office confirmed that human remains discovered Wednesday in Barnwell County are believed to be those of Krystal Anderson.
Anderson, a mother of four from Wagener, disappeared in August 2022 and has been presumed dead.
Investigation Focused on Boyfriend
Investigators previously said Anderson was last known to be with her partner, Tony Lee Berry, around the time she vanished.
Berry was arrested at a Lexington County hotel in October 2025 and charged with kidnapping.
Authorities also found his burned vehicle in Newberry County during the investigation.
Son Also Charged in Case
Berry’s son, Darius Berry, was later arrested and charged with accessory after the fact in connection with Anderson’s disappearance and death.
Positive Identification Still Pending
Officials said the remains have been sent for an autopsy and official identification.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities await final confirmation.
