Five people were killed in a head-on collision on Highway 101 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, early Saturday morning.

Crash Details

Trinity Fire Department was dispatched before 1 a.m. to an iPhone crash alert near Bellview Road Extension. Emergency crews found a Ford SUV and a Toyota SUV with multiple occupants trapped following the collision.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Ford was traveling northbound and the Toyota southbound when they collided head-on.

Victims

The driver and two passengers of the Toyota died at the scene. Another Toyota passenger was hospitalized, and their condition is currently unknown. The driver and passenger of the Ford SUV also died. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victims’ names.

Investigation

Authorities continue investigating the crash to determine the cause and circumstances of the collision.
